Swiss Medical Weekly, which began publication in 1871 as "Correspondenz-Blatt für Schweizer Aerzte", is an international peer-reviewed medical journal. 

With an impact factor of 1.823 the journal enjoys a high standing in the national and international specialist community.

The print version is chiefly intended to address scientifically oriented clinicians in the field of internal medicine. The large number of reviews – medical intelligence, current opinion and med tech – fills its pages with a wide range of cutting edge but also established themes: accessible to all, but not superficial; specialist expertise, but at the same time challenging general knowledge. 

The original articles appear online, with their definitive reference number, as soon as they are accepted for publication. This eliminates long waiting times and, thanks to Swiss Medical Weekly’s open access policy, they are instantly available to all readers. The extended abstracts in the print version provide readers with a rapid overview of current research.
